Façade
Improvement Program
The Façade Improvement Program is a 50/50 matching grant program
administered by the City of St. Charles to encourage the rehabilitation
and restoration of downtown commercial building facades. Outlined below
are the key point of the program:

* 50/50 matching grant –
up to $10,000 per façade (defined as up to 30 ft. of frontage;
additional funds available for larger buildings)
* Rear Entrance Improvement grants available for qualifying properties
– 50/50 matching grants up to $10,000
* 100% reimbursement of Architectural Services can be included in
grant - up to $4,000
* A Preliminary Review by the Historic Preservation Commission is
available to provide applicants with guidance on how to meet the architectural
standards
* Free State of Illinois Design Assistance available
* Facade Loan Program available through several local banks for additional
funding assistance.
Many of the downtown renovation/restorations projects completed over
the last few years were funded by this program. Grants are awarded on a first come/first
