Week of August 16th
Campton Excavating is scheduled to finish pavement removal and aggregate roadway base material replacement on Ronzheimer Avenue.  Curb, sidewalk and concrete driveway apron replacement will follow, after the pavement removal is completed.

Week of August 9th
J. A. Johnson Paving will be working on punch list items this week. Campton Excavating has completed storm sewer on Ronzheimer Avenue and has started the excavation of Ronzheimer Avenue. Excavation is scheduled to be completed August 19th.

Week of August 2nd

Campton Excavating continues to install storm sewer on Ronzheimer Avenue. Ronzheimer Avenue pavement removal has been re-scheduled for the early part of the week of 8/9/2010, because of rain delays.

Week of July 26th
J. A. Johnson Paving has placed the binder on Horne Street and North Tyler Road. All of the bituminous driveway aprons on Horne Street, and most of the aprons on N. Tyler have been paved. Restoration of topsoil has also been completed on N. Tyler and Horne Street. Final punch list for these two streets will be generated for remaining items that need to be completed.
Campton Excavating continues to install storm sewer on Ronzheimer Avenue.

Week of July 19th
Worked started on July 21 after the strike settlement. On Horne Street pavement grinding and miscellaneous concrete work is finishing up. The first layer of asphalt pavement is scheduled to be placed late this week. On North Tyler Road concrete work and pavement grinding is finished and the first layer of asphalt is scheduled to be placed late this week. On Ronzheimer Avenue utility work and pavement removal is scheduled to begin next week.

Week of July 12th
No work is scheduled for this week unless the Labor Union strike is settled.

Week of July 5th
No work was completed this week because of the Labor Union strike.

Week of June 28th
Roadway base material undercut areas have been completed on Horne Street. NICOR has completed the repair of the leaking gas main that was found at the intersection of Horne and Route 31. All driveways are accessible and construction has stopped, because of the Labor Union strike that started 6/30/2010.

The proposed street rehabilitation and underground utility repair locations are as follows:

The scope of the project includes repairs to the existing storm and sanitary sewer systems, and water main appurtenances in addition to the proposed street rehabilitation work. This project has been divided into three phases to facilitate the completion of the project in a timely manner and with as little disruption to residents as is possible.

Phase I: The first phase involves underground utility repair work.  Please note that all work will be performed within the City right-of-way. If you have any type of existing features within the City right-of-way area (i.e. sprinkler system, landscape features, special decorative rocks, brick driveways, electronic “invisible” dog fence, etc.) or any other specialty items precautions should be taken by you, the homeowner, to remove or store these items right away to assure that no damage occurs to these specific items. The City will not repair or replace private appurtenances left within the City right-of-way.

Phase II:  Once Phase I has been completed the second phase of construction which involves street rehabilitation work will begin. This construction phase includes the following work:

• Removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete curbs and sidewalks
• Complete removal and replacement of the roadway in specific designated sections
• Pavement grinding
• Pavement patching
• Placement of two lifts of new bituminous asphalt pavement
• Repair of driveway sections damaged by construction 

Phase III:  The third phase will involve parkway restoration.  All areas disturbed by construction will be restored and residents advised in writing as to recommended sod maintenance. We are planning the completion of all three phases of this contract to be completed by September 15, 2010.

During construction, for short periods of time, homeowners may not have access to their driveways or the street. This is required for access to the various utilities, pavement grinding, tack coat application and pavement resurfacing work.  In these instances, residents will be notified as to dates and times for removal of personal vehicles by street posting and/or notification letters. We intend to give as much notice as possible in these situations in an effort to lessen the negative impact to homeowners.

Driveway Apron Restoration: The City is also proud to announce that this will be the first year that the City of St. Charles will offer to its residents the opportunity to have their driveway aprons replaced completely rather than the standard repair of approximately three feet from the edge of pavement that has been utilized in the past. This is a one-time opportunity for the homeowners to purchase this additional work at the contract bid price. What the City will be requiring from all residents who are interested in this program is to complete the attached request form and return it to the City with a check, for full payment, by June 1, 2010. This will allow ample time for staff to prepare a list for our contractor as well as to have these areas corrected as part of the overall program.
